Catch Visiting Statue at Downtown Plaza

Downtown Winter Garden is known as a local gathering place for families, with lots of places for children to play and explore such as the splash pad, caboose, trail, as well as a bookstore, music school; and of course, ice cream and candy shops. Therefore, it is only fitting for Downtown to be selected as a temporary viewing location for the recently installed, exquisitely crafted statue of children playing.

The statue of two children denotes the joyful bliss and innocence of children and will be on display at centrally-located Centennial Plaza from now through April 2021. Made of Italian Carrara marble, the statue was handcrafted by local renowned artist, Don Reynolds, at a prestigious studio in Italy owned by the famous sculptor, Nicola Stagetti, who procured the marble for the sculpture. The statue is graciously on loan from the Johnson Family of Winter Garden and is made possible through the collaboration of Mr. Reynolds, the City of Winter Garden, and the Winter Garden Art Association.

More of Mr. Reynolds artistic work will soon be enjoyed Downtown, as he is sculpting the soon to be revealed copper butterfly sculpture that will fly proudly at Downtown’s new pocket park when completed later this year. Generously commissioned by the Bloom and Groom Garden Society, more information about this sculpture, as well as the park, can be found at https://downtownwg.com/the-arts-unleashed-and-outdoors.

Reynold’s numerous breathtaking creations are relished throughout the world including another Carrara marble statue on a pier in Pietrasanta, Italy, as well as the bronze knight on horseback at UCF’s stadium.

As John F. Kennedy once said, “Children are the world’s most valuable resource and its best hope for the future.” As we start the New Year full of hope, be sure to catch this awe-inspiring site on your next visit to Downtown.
