Garden Theatre Presents Matilda the Musical
November 10, 2020
The historic Garden Theatre in downtown Winter Garden is excited to present Matilda the Musical during the holiday season. Premiering on November 19, the live theatre presentation continues through December 20.
Roald Dahl’s beloved story of an extraordinary young girl comes to life in Matilda the Musical. Unloved by her parents, tormented by Headmistress Trunchbull, and armed with a vivid imagination, Matilda finds solace in stacks of library books. With the help of her caring teacher, Miss Honey, Matilda’s magic appears as she dares to take a stand and change her own destiny.
Packed with high-energy dance numbers, catchy songs, and an unforgettable star turn for a young actress, Matilda is a joyous girl-power romp. Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.
“During the course of the play, Matilda learns that ‘even though you are little you can do a lot,’” says Artistic Director Joseph C. Walsh. “She harnesses her incredible imagination and gift of storytelling to not only rewrite her own story but also to inspire those around her to find and use their voices for the greater good.”
Guests can learn more and purchase tickets at gardentheatre.org/plays. Garden Theatre will also offer an ASL-interpreted performance on December 3, and a Sensory-friendly performance on December 12.
Garden Theatre is partnering with A Gift for Teaching for a Book Drive! Bring in a children’s book to the Box Office during normal hours to support A Gift for Teaching, and receive a discount code for $5 off a Youth ticket to Matilda the Musical.
